ESTCP is gearing up for the 2018 Energy Exchange to be held August 21 to 23, 2018 in Cleveland, OH.
ESTCP’s Installation Energy and Water Program Area funds demonstrations of innovative technologies that improve the energy and water efficiency, enhance the energy security and reduce the operational cost of military installations. The Energy Exchange is an excellent forum for ESTCP to interact with federal and private sector energy professionals, learn about developments in federal- building management and share results from our portfolio of new technology demonstration projects.
ESTCP will be exhibiting at the Energy Exchange trade show. Please visit us at our booth (#535). There will be information available on ESTCP, our funding process, highlights of ongoing projects, and potential opportunities to host future ESTCP demonstrations. There will also be information on the upcoming SERDP and ESTCP Symposium, which will be held November 27-29, 2018 at the Washington Hilton Hotel in Washington D.C. Past and current ESTCP projects are regular contributors to the Energy Exchange technical sessions, and this year is no exception. With presentations on at least seven projects ranging from HVAC technologies to wireless sensor/controls technologies and advanced microgrid designs, ESTCP is well represented again in this year’s Energy Exchange agenda. In addition to these sessions in the technology portion of the agenda, ESTCP has a project providing the basis for a unique collaborative session in the Workforce Development and Engagement Track of the agenda.
ESTCP, in collaboration with the Office of Naval Research, funded a project team with an innovative approach to identifying and solving problems in the area of facilities energy/water management and operations. The process, called Hacking for X (H4X), includes a rigorous evaluation of identified problems through facilitated stakeholder engagement to determine root cause and prioritize them based on mission needs. This session, titled “H4X: A Disciplined, Data Driven, Evidence based Approach to Problem Solving”, is aimed at identifying and defining the technical, organizational, and resource problems hindering day to day energy management. The session is designed to engage attendees in a roundtable discussion of what H4X is and how it can be used to source, scope and prioritize an installation’s most challenging energy and water operations and management problems. Results from initial research and interviews with several DoD installations’ staff will be presented and provide a basis for engaging the audience in discussion to refine and prioritize common problems. With input from this session, the project team will develop recommendations for ESTCP investment in technology demonstrations that address these issues. This session is scheduled for Thursday, August 23, 2018, 10:30 AM - 12:00 PM.
