Given the link between training and testing land sustainability, military activities as an ignition source, and fire's role in fire-affected ecosystems on military installations, an understanding of available and planned wildland fire management tools is key. This short course highlights tools that DoD fire, natural resource, and land managers can use to manage wildland fire and its impacts. Topics include next generation physics models and their potential for management use, available tools for managing smoke air quality challenges, prescribed fire planning tools, and assessing trade-offs between prescribed fire and wildfire: framework development.
