Acquisition and logistics professionals use the term sustainment to describe the support needed to operate and maintain a system over its lifetime. Sustainability differs from sustainment in that it relates to the use of resources, and the associated impacts and costs over the system's life cycle.  This technical session will give attendees information that will enable them to achieve sustainable sustainment. The session aims to:- provide an understanding of federal and international chemical regulations and how they may alter DoD's sustainment needs;- demonstrate tools and techniques that can be used to show that alternative sustainment practices can minimize negative consequences on resource availability, climate change, human health, and ecosystem quality;- outline criteria for successfully collaborating with DoD and industry partners on projects that promote sustainable sustainment.
