The Environmental Security Technology Certification Program (ESTCP) and the National Association of Ordnance Contractors (NAOC) hosted a Technology Transfer Workshop from June 10-11, 2015 in Golden, Colorado to highlight the sensors and analysis methods developed by SERDP and ESTCP for classification applied to munitions response. The first morning of the workshop featured presentations from NAVSEA, Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment, USACE, and NAVFAC on their perspectives on the use of classification for munitions response. The afternoon presentations by NAVSEA, CH2M HILL, Leidos, Black Tusk Geophysics, Geometrics, and Parsons representatives delved into more detail on specific developments from the research program and their application to production projects.

The morning of the second day of the workshop involved a live field demonstration of MetalMapper, TEMTADS 2X2, TEM-8G, Man-Portable Vector (MPV), and One Pass EM Towed Array for Detection/Discrimination (OPTEMA). The demonstrations were followed by tutorial sessions covering Geosoft’s UX-Analyze module, the GCMR-QAPP template and its use, and the munitions modules of Visual Sample Plan (VSP).

Nearly 190 technology developers, contractors, regulators, and government project managers attended this event. Workshop events highlight the effective partnership between these stakeholders and the successful transition of SERDP and ESTCP technologies into operational munitions response efforts, spanning technology development and planning to support successful practical application. These efforts will be a foundation of more efficient and effective munitions response efforts.
