SERDP funds basic research, applied research, and advanced technology development. The requirements for SERDP investigators are:

Consistent with DoD Policy on contracted unclassified fundamental research, SERDP encourages and places no restriction on publications and presentations in addition to required reporting, except in rare cases where security requirements will restrict distribution.
